    Organizations Empty Organizations

Post  Shadowman Tue Oct 26, 2010 12:00 pm

Anyone who tried or even simply wanted to create a big organization had likely encountered a large problem: members. There is a rather limited amount of player characters on the site, most don't want to join organizations, and those that do are still split between the various existing groups, or they might just not like yours. As such, creating an organization with any serious amount of active members is something of a problem. To help solve this problem, the following system is being implemented.

You may "hire" NPCs to fill some open slots in your organization if you want to. Whether to replace them later with player characters who may want to join or not, is entirely up to the creator of the organization. These NPCs and their abilities are "purchased" with special Organization Points.

Organization Points are a measure of how big, well-known and rich an organization is, although they do not serve any purpose other than obtaining some OOC things for it. Each organization has two numbers for this: total OP (Organization Points) and used OP. The total amount is equal to the leader's fame plus half the fame of all player characters involved in it. The used amount is, naturally, the amount of these points you are using to purchase something for your organization. The things you can buy are not limited to NPC members, but pretty much anything an organization could need. It goes without saying that you cannot use more points than your organization's total. However, in case your otganization's total falls because a member quits or dies and ends up below the used amount, you'll have to get rid of something to bring your point balance out of the negatives.

The purchased NPC members are quite different from normal NPCs. First of all, there are two kinds of Organization NPCs: generic and unique. Both kinds require profiles to be present, however, they have a bunch of differences.
Generic NPCs only require their abilities listed, because names, personality and background vary between them. They can be used to assist a RPC in a fight, but they cannot be present in a thread where no player character from that organization is. They are also "easily" killed, meaning they will most likely be unable to beat an player character of statistically equal power and they cannot kill player characters, just like any other generic NPC. The upside is that they're expendable and will be replaced in the organization automatically without any consequences. Although the replacements cannot be used in a thread where the leader of the organization is not present and no more than 2 replacements (for each NPC) can be done anyway. A killed generic NPC is replaced with one that has all equal skill levels. Their strength and amount of jutsu is also limited.
Unique NPCs require full profiles to be filled out, but they are also closer to actual characters. They can travel independently of player characters, they can fight at full potential and they can kill player characters. Their strength does not have special limits and their amount of jutsu is limited only by their rank. They are almost the same as player characters, but they cannot be used as teachers or anything else that requires an actual player character. The downside to these NPCs, is that if they are killed, they are dead for good and the points spent on these NPCs forever remain in the "used points" pool.

Another thing to note, any clan member can convert some of their Training Points into Organization Points at a 1:1 ratio. That amount is then added to the total pool. However, converting them back is not possible for anyone. This also has a point in controlling NPCs: normally, the organization's leader controls all of its NPCs, but they may give some members permission to control some or even all NPCs. However, if a member who isn't the leader purchases a NPC solely by their Training Points (since they aren't allowed to use Organization Points without the leader's permission), that NPC goes under their full control, and even the leader cannot use them without that member's agreement.
And now, for the price lists!
